Welcome
Skills are an important part of Ballerium. With these abilities, your Heros and units will be extremely effective in combat. If you know how to use them properly, your army will have a decided advantage over the uninformed commander. This page will show you how to accomplish that.
Skill Casting
To cast a skill, select your unit and use the function keys, F1, F2, F3, F4 or left click on theskill icon, to select the skill to cast. Now, left click on your target. The unit will move into position and cast their skill. In order to change between manual casting and auto-casting you can either right click on the skill icon while the icon is bright, means skill is available to cast, or you can use the Shift Key + Function Keys F1-F4. The Shift+Function Key feature works even while the skill is in it's cooldown state, this is when skill icon is dimmed immediately after use.
Skill Levels
A Hero's skills can be raised up to level 10. Regular units skills stay at level 2. In order to raise a Hero's skills, you must put Glory Points that are earned as the Hero gains experience, and therfore levels, into the Hero's main attribute. As you increase this attribute, the Hero's skill levels will rise. You also use Glory Points to purchase skills for your Hero at the Academium. Here you can buy skills up to level 4. If many players are purchasing a certain skill, it's cost in Glory Points will rise. Therefore, it's important to get your Heros leveled and equipped with the skills needed very quickly. If you are about to be able to promote a new Hero soon, always check on the costs in the Academium before you decide on what unit to promote. Low cost skills will enable you to put more Glory Points into other attributes to make your Hero even stronger.

Not a bad skill to have if you are collecting resources far from a city. In the beginnings of your army, when you can't afford too many caravans to transport resources, this skill is beneficial. |

All enemies in a certain radius are stunned for a few seconds.
This skill works against monsters and players. It is a very nice skill other than the fact that it wears off quickly. Intimidate is a much more effective skill against players. |

Shrewdness

Solidify

A terrific skill. The only drawback is to get this skill to a high level, you must put Glory Points into Materialism. |

Stone Strike

Calls forth a boulder to drop down on the head of an enemy, inflicting damage and stunning the target.
A very good offensive skill. At higher levels this skill does decent damage and stuns the target for quite sometime. |

Raising the Polemics attribute of your Hero increases the level of these skills.

Berzerk

The unit using this skill enters a berzerk rage, receiving a bonus to attack, but suffering a weaker defense.
This skill can be powerful when used on the right Hero. Having a weaker defense is only good if you are prepared for it. |

The unit becomes enraged, enjoying a bonus to attack.
I'll have to do some testing to see what skill is more powerful, Berzerk or Rage. The bonus of this skill is obvious, no hit to your defense. |

Swish

The wielder of this skill becomes a whirlwind of blows, striking all enemies around.
I like this skill. It does decent damage at higher levels. Not a bad skill to get if you are building a tanker Hero. |

Toughness

The caster's skin becomes resilient to blows, granting a defense bonus for a limited time.
Pair this skill with Rage and Swish and you have a sweet combination punch for your melee Hero. |

Raising the Industrialism attribute of your Hero increases the level of these skills.

A blast of force which can seriously damage buildings.
This is a must have if you plan on attacking Cities with the goal to destroy. I haven't taken this skill to a high level yet, but I'm sure it'd be deadly. |

I use this skill a lot. If you plan on having many mechanical units in your army, get this skill. |

Mine

One of the first things I do every version is get an Olligar Miner and turn him into my first Hero. High level mine skill is great for traders. |

Nee

Encourage

A sweet area heal skill. A good army will always have some Encourager units mixed in. At high levels this skill is awesome on a Hero. |

Not much to add on this one. Leave it for when you are really bored. |

Inspire

I use this as a secondary skill on my Nee Hero. It adds some decent attack ratings to your fighting group. |

Intimidates an enemy unit, paralyzing it for some time.
Intimidator units are awesome in a large group in PvP battles. This skill only works against players, so forget it if you fight AI units mostly. |

The best heal skill there is. A high level Ealthai Hero is awesome with PoD and PoL. Has the same drawback as PoD, maybe more so. Get it early. |

A must have. I like this skill a lot and at high levels it deals some punishment. |
